AirAware Map Terms of Use

Last updated: [set to the day you publish]

In short

  • AirAware Map is a planning aid. It does not give you permission to fly and it can be wrong or out of date.
  • You are responsible for checking the official sources and flying legally and safely.
  • The Free plan is free. Pro is a monthly subscription you can cancel at any time.
  • Be decent to other pilots.

1. Who we are

AirAware Map is run by [legal business name], [registered address] (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. What the service is, and what it is not

AirAware Map shows airspace, NOTAMs, byelaws, nearby sites and weather, and runs checks such as Fly Now, using information from public and third-party sources. We work hard to keep it accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, correct or current. Data can be delayed, missing or wrong, and conditions change quickly.

It is not an official source, not legal or aviation advice, and not an approval or clearance to fly. A “clear” result does not mean it is safe or legal to fly. Always check the official sources, the rules that apply to you, landowner permissions and the conditions on the day.

3. Your responsibilities

  • You remain solely responsible for every flight you make and for complying with the law, including CAA rules, your Operator and Flyer IDs where required, airspace restrictions and local byelaws.
  • Keep your account details secure and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
  • Give accurate information, and use the app only for lawful purposes.

4. Accounts and devices

You must be 18 or over, or have a parent or guardian’s permission if you are under 18 (and at least 13). Each account can be used on up to two devices. Accounts are personal and must not be shared or resold.

5. Plans and payment

Free includes the live map, a monthly allowance of Fly Now checks and weather forecasts, and one drone in your equipment list. Pro costs £5 per month and removes those limits and adds publishing flight plans and messaging. Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month.

Pro is billed monthly through Stripe and renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Account page and keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for. [Confirm your refund position, for example: payments are non-refundable except where the law requires it]. We may change prices or plan limits with reasonable notice; changes will not affect a period you have already paid for.

6. Messaging and flight plans

Flight plans you save can be seen by other signed-in pilots (see our Privacy Policy). Do not use messaging to harass, threaten, spam or share anything unlawful. We can warn, restrict or close accounts that break these rules, and administrators can read a conversation that has been reported.

7. Acceptable use

Do not copy, scrape or resell the data or the app, try to get around plan limits or the device limit, attempt to break or overload the service, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.

8. Third-party data and links

The service relies on third-party data and services, including UK aeronautical publications, OpenStreetMap contributors, OpenMapTiles and Open-Meteo. Those sources have their own terms. The app links to CoverDrone for insurance quotes, which is an independent service; we may earn a commission if you buy.

9. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the information in the app, including any flight, fine, collision, loss of or damage to equipment, or loss of business, and our total liability to you for anything else is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. The service is provided “as is” and may be unavailable from time to time. [Have a solicitor review this section before launch]

10. Ending your account

You can stop using AirAware Map at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.

11. Changes

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will change the date above and tell you about significant changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

12. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of [England and Wales / Scotland], and its courts have jurisdiction, though if you are a consumer you keep any rights you have to use your local courts. Contact us at [support email].
